The average age on the Bats is 27.

I'm less concerned about his ability to be a major league center fielder next year than I am about his ability to be a major league leadoff man next year. And that's pretty clearly the plan in place, with no real plan b. That's what's made me nervous about watching his development (admittedly not closely).

No. Like you say, it's a bad month. It's cause for concern not panic

So what is Plan B - or C - for CF in 2014 if the Reds can't re-sign Choo and Hamilton isn't ready?

Sign someone on a 1 yr deal? I think we're nitpicking here. How many teams don't have a single position on their roster where they have no plan C? We're less than a decade removed from not having a plan A at SP1. I think we can live with not having a plan C in CF for now.

Hamilton now hitting .189 with an OPS of under .600. Unless he turns it around, it may be 2015 before he might be up with the big club.

The thing with the minor leagues is it isn't about yearly stats. All he needs is one month of hitting .300 and the rallying cry will be "bring him up when he's hot"

It's been ONE month in the minors also. Bruce will hit only one homer for the season! PANIC!

it’s the reason the Reds haven’t called him up even with a hole in the outfield and Shin-Soo Choo’s -27.2 UZR/150 so far this season.]

Why is this not in the minor league forum? He has not seen a single inning or AB in the show yet.

If the money is workable, they should resign Choo to play CF next year, tell Billy he's not even being considered for next year so that he has time to develop at the appropriate pace, let Ludwick walk after 2014 and hope that Hamilton is ready in 2015 for a Choo-Hamilton-Bruce OF.

That's if the Reds keep him. I'd totally support trading him at this deadline. Because to answer the question posed in the subject..."yes." Yes, I have a great deal of concern about Hamilton's ability to be a contributor and very little expectation that he's going to be a star.

The only way Choo is a Red after this year is if they sign him for 5 years. There is no chance he signs for anything near 1-3 years.

Choo isn't going to be back next year. The sooner people realize that, the better.

And please don't say "nobody thought they could re-sign Votto." I did.
