    Minor League Updates: Tuesday 5/07/2013

Louisville is visiting the Iron Pigs tonight. Ryan Hanigan is rehabbing. On the night he is 1 for 1 with a walk. He has also been gunned down at the plate and comitted an error.

Armando Galarraga is chunking the ole seed tonight. He has has gone four innings so far and given up four runs, only two of which were earned. The rest of his line is 3H 2BB 3K.

Offensively, singles by HRod, Soto and Hanigan. Denis Phipps has a pair of doubles. Phipps has 23Ks but 15BBs on the season. Not bad. His slugging is down. But after his 2 for 2 tonight he is up to about .350 OBP.

Iron Pigs 4 Bats 2 heading into the fifth.

Bats tie it up at 4 in the top of the sixth. Phipps is HBP and Nevin Ashley yaks one. Nick Christiani on in relief of Galarrage in the bottom half of the sixth.

Ray Chang just went yard for either Pensacola or Louisville. I can't keep up. =)
Billy Hamilton's speeds adds an insurance run in the eight. Hamilton singles and with two outs scores from first on a single by Neftali Soto.

Jose Arredondo, once again pitching more than one inning, runs into a wild patch and hands the baton to Yohan Pino who finishes the game and earns his first save of 2013.

    Louisville prevails 6-4.

Sharky Rogers is on the mound for Pensacola as they visit Jacksonville. The score is all knotted up at one in the middle of the fifth.

    Rogers with another excellent outing. 5IP 4H 1R 1ER 3BB 8K.

Devin Lohman has continued his recent upsurge with a double and a walk.
Ryan LaMarre has singled and scored the Wahoos' lone run. Tucker Barnhart drove him home with a single. Barnhart's average is up to .288.

Game tied at 1 at the end of five.

Rogers pretty much had his way with 8 of the 9 Jacksonville hitters. However, Christian Yelich had him figured out. He went 3 for 3 against Rogers, with two of the knocks being three-baggers.

Kyle Lotzkar came on in the sixth and gave up an unearned run on three walks and a HBP. Tucker Barnhart dropped a foul pop to make the run unearned. Pensacola bounced right back in the top of the seventh on a double by Bryson Smith and singles by Mattair and Gilmartin. 2-2.

Smith starts another rally in the top of the ninth with a single. He moves up on a sac bunt and rides home on a single by Selsky. Drew Hayes to try to save the game for Pensacola in the bottom of the ninth. Loek Van Mil stands to be the winner if the one-run lead holds up.
Hayes coughs up the lead and it is free baseball in the Southern League. In the top of the twelfth, Brodie Greene singles and is standing on third after a David Vidal single. Tucker Barnhart reaches on an error as the go-ahead run scores.
Josh Ravin was perfect for two innings, striking out four. He was pinch hit for in the twelfth. As of yet no idea who the seventh pitcher of the evening will be for the Blue Fish. Pensacola pitchers have struck out 17 in the game so far.
Wilkin De La Rosa is on. And De La Rosa blows the save as the first batter to face him leaves the park. On to the thirteenth.

Hey, Mace, I am generally not one for breaking convention....BUT...this Christian Yelich guy is making me think twice. He is 5 for 6 with two singles, two triples and twelfth-inning, game-tying bomb. If he would have been a smidgen slower on one of those triples he would be riding a cycle right now.

Let's see if the third time can be the charm. Brodie Greene singled home Gilmartin as Pensacola takes a 5-4 lead in to the bottom of the thirteenth.
Wilkin takes his chance at redemption and cashes it at the window. Pensacola winds up striking out 20 Jacksonville batters in a 5-4 win.

Meanwhile back in Bakersfield, Taco Tuesday is in full swing. Jon Moscot has looked good early, shutting down San Jose for two innings. Score is 0-0.
The Blaze drop a three-spot in the bottom of the second. Yorman Rodriguez singles, Juan Duran walks and Juan Silverio triples them home. He later scores on double by Yovan Gonzalez.
Jon Moscot gives the runs back in the top of the third. Game tied at 3 after 3 full.
San Jose breaks it open by scoring five in the fourth and adding a pair in the fifth. Moscot pitched 3+ getting bombed. Jimmy Moran gave up three in his two innings of work.
    Bakersfield trails 10-3 after five.
Heading into the bottom of the ninth. Blaze still trailing 10-3. Brooks Pinckard and El'Hajj Muhammad have combined for four innings of one-hit, scoreless baseball. Muhammad was perfect, striking out two.
Juan Duran has reached base three times, two singles and a walk. Juan Silverio has a single a triple, a run scored and two knocked in. Juan Perez and Yovan Gonzalez each has doubled. Rodriguez has singled.

If they rally it will be without me. Adios.
