I read an article about how the iPad is changing scouting. Basically think of an app that has video of every pitch thrown in the last 5 years. Now make all of those pitches sortable by count, type, location, batter, batter tendencies, yourself, velocity, etc.. Before the game you can see every 0-2 slider Latos has ever thrown to right handed batters. It goes both ways for pitchers to see batters tendencies as well. Clubs pay a 3rd party for the service.

Really, hell of a throw? Short easy throw, out by a whole bunch! Almost all MLB outfielders can make that throw, Borbon and X Paul are 2 that can not.

I can't express how badly I want that app.

Thing is most don't think of Gattis as a major league OF. He butchered more balls in this series than Choo did in his first 2 weeks at CF.

The right handed hitters are the only ones who have made good contact against Minor.
    Reds with only 3 hits.

Minor just ate Phillips's lunch. That was impressive.

In fact the article attributed this to scoring going down more so than steroidsless players. It would make sense that it would help the pitcher more than the hitter.

Right. But *as I mentioned* Gattis has struggled in left field. He *may or may not be* a major league outfielder. He's new to it. Now we know he can make that throw.

Just because I think it was a nice chance to take doesn't mean it was the right decision. I'm not employed by the Reds and I'm sitting on a couch. And you don't have to agree with me. It's cool.
