The player who covers would change based on the pitch and location called, I think.

Or perhaps it's simply the way Simmons is likely to hit a ground ball.

Simmons was simply trying to get his bat on the ball. He was lucky to do that, and was so far infront he pulled it through the hole.
It appeared Phillips broke to cover as well....miscommunication I guess

It says volumes about your bench when in the bottom of the 7th your manager lets the pitcher hit with the tieing run in scoring position and the pitcher has already thrown 95 pitches.

(Or it says a lot about the hitting skills of the pitcher.)

More of the latter than the former I'd say.

Puffy is right on the pitch calling and who covers...but with both of them breaking towards 2nd...yeah, I'd say miscommunication.

Hoover in now. Need to shut this down right NOW.

Have no problem with Leake hitting there b/c I think he was the best option. No way he should have come out for the 8th though.

Sorry, but trying to squeeze one more inning out of Leake was pretty dumb.

    BB to Upton.

Leake was dealing with these braves hitters better than Marshall or Hoover have. Maybe Dusty isn't the fool some here think he is.

Marshall is suddenly a LOOGY apparently. I'd have started the inning with him.

Grounder to Cozart...forced at home. 1 down, bases still loaded.

You would have preferred Corky or Cesar?

    Hoover versus Francisco. Ironic.
