    choking up to make contact...

With 2 strikes, OR a runner at 3rd and less than 2 outs, how come you never see anybody (save Votto) choke up and just get the bat on the ball?? And by anybody I mean Bruce and Frazier...

To be fair, my guess is as pro's they were never made to or taught to.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

I guess...it's just terribly frustrating as a fan to see one of em have a guy at third and one out---take 2 might hacks and foul it off, then be thinking "OK--here's comes the off speed pitch in the dirt. Dont chase it." Then watch em chase it.....I swear to God if either of em choked up and appeared to KNOW that they just need to make contact and appear to TRY to do that, I wouldnt get pissed when they strike out...

I am not sure that the lack of choking up is the problem. It's probably more of an approach problem plus a mechanical problem.

I believe the players' union frowns on it.

Players are told they can't choke up unless they have Felix Milan's moustache.

Yikes, I've had a few doubles before, but that's my first triple.

That's what happens when you try for doubles...now had you just choked up and tried to make contact...

There is a Huge difference between Votto choking up, who has a compact inside out swing and that of Bruce and Frazier. Those two both have a very long swing where their hands are extended. Choking up is not going to make their swing any faster/quicker, it is just going to give them less coverage at the plate.

Now if you want to ask, why don't they try and keep their hand in more and swing to hit the inside pitch better, i am stumped at that one.

Because Free agency and home runs ruined the game?
