Mr Red used to be rougher looking

If you were alive in 1960... you might remember Billy Martin as a Red

Sunny Jim was Red... and wore his hat like a clown

This guy was Red and is a answer to a famous baseball riddle (who was the 3rd baseman with Tinker, Evers and Chance?

Forgot about that. He did us some good by leaving.

Lets not forget Paul Householder and Alan Knicely. Just to name two more from those days.

Re: They Were Reds: A Tribute

Does the name DT Cromer remind anyone else of Drew Nelson, who used to constantly lobby for Cromer to be promoted? "Show him the door"

The Lizard generated plenty of posts on RZ back then as well. We were so desperate for a pitcher to have hope in.

Remember when Oswaldo Fernandez was going to anchor our rotation? Yikes.

Once again, Thank you Bob CAstillini for making this franchise respectable again.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

Yep, apparently he held out and Gary Herrman didn't like that, the Reds won the trade though, getting Hans Lobert the original fastest player in the game ( he raced a horse)

That link looks just a bit suspect to me.

I thought of Roomes, but Dan specifically asked about the early 80's.

Fun fact: Mike LaCoss hit 2 homers during his 14-year career, and they happened in consecutive at-bats. The first was off Cardinals' utility man Dane Iorg in a blowout, the second off the Reds' Tom Browning.

    And then there's this:

You're not the only one. He was more highly regarded. I felt the same way, and wouldn't surprise me if one or more the co-GMs who made the trade felt the same way.
