Now if he pulls Simon right now, I agree....should've pinch hit someone.

I guess I'd devastate the bullpen there. Lineup will soon be flipped, wouldn't let Simon pitch to the tough hitters. Lot of pitches, second time through.

I would have used a pinch hitter and come in with Lecure.

Thom just asked the longest question in the history of mankind.
    2014 Reds record: 1-2

I look like a banker in this...

Maybe Simon was the hottest hand on the bench. We don't know how the players are feeling, only Dusty does.
    Is it "next season" yet?

Only possible reasoning is that he's already used Lutz. He wants to save his other players, Izturis, Mes, Robinson, Hannahan for later. Still early.

Figured that all he wants is a bunt, why use up a hitter.

That must be the rationale. I completely disagree with it.

Have to save Izturis, Hannahan, and Robinson for all the other pinch hitting chances that will come up.

This is what I was thinking. The pen might not all be available. Who knows.

But if he was planning on pulling him....not PH'ing there is....odd.

As someone else said, in that case use Arroyo.

Then why not let Leake Or Arroyo or Bailey bunt if your afraid to let a speedy Robinson or Izturis who prb CAN bunt not hit??? I sure would like to see the beat writers ask a simple question about this dumb managing move

I get that. But the correct move then is to use Leake to bunt. Simon obviously had no clue.

But IMO, with Choo up next, you have to play for the big inning there. I would have used somebody to hit.

    Whatever, onward.
