Dustification: the act of justifying Dusty Baker's managerial moves, no matter how questionable.

Now there's a term for everyone!

    That's no fun.

I was looking forward to a Caged Death Match between Edabbs44 and DougDirt for ownership of the phrase.
Hoping to change my username to 75769024

I'm no lawyer, but with the time stamps that are applied to our messages I think it would be a fairly easy case.

I retired from the cage. However, if edabbs would like to step into a game of Punch Out for Wii, we may be able to work something out.

Dusty is not a Hall of Fame manager, at least not yet. There are 5 HoF managers that never won a World Series.

Frank Selee - pre world series era. Won 5 NL pennants
Ned Hanlon - pre world series era. Won 5 NL pennants
Rub Foster - Inducted due to Negro league success
Wilbert Robinson - elected in 1945. Method of induction is no longer in place.
Al Lopez - The only guy that even comes close to Dusty. Twice WS runner up, but had a .584 winning percentage which is 4th best all time (Dusty is .525).

Ralph Houk is not in the HoF with similar wins and 2 WS championships. Gene Mauch has more wins but a worse win percentage and no WS titles. He is probably the closest to Dusty, and was not voted in by the Veteran's committee in recent years.

It gets even worse for Dusty once you consider the managers he will be going up against when people do comparisons for the HoF. Bobby Cox, Jim Leyland, Tony LaRussa, Lou Pinella, Bruce Bochy, and Joe Torre. Yeah, Dusty is boned.

It's pretty simple. Dusty needs to win a WS. Until then, he is most likely not a HoF manager.

That's quality stuff. Definitely good enough for inclusion in the urban dictionary.

I do now. Thanks for clarifying. I retract my retort.

PS I consider all my slightly snarky retorts retractable.

I was actually referencing the old school "Back Up Off Me" song by the legendary Ed Lover and Dr Dre. I have installed the phrase into my everyday rotation at work and it is doing wonders.

We have been calling for Jay to get a day off for awhile...he finally starts hitting against the Brewers and Dusty gives Jay a day off after the teams off day? Does this make sense to anyone else?

He always gives players a day off after a scheduled day off. He did it for Phillips a week or two ago.

That may not make sense to you, but it's the way Dusty does things.
