Are the Reds one of the best teams in the MLB right now?

Sitting at 24-16, the reds have the 2nd best record in the NL, and the reds have the 4th best record in MLB.

    Go reds, go!

I wouldn't say we are the best team. But I'm waiting for us to get Cueto and Ludwick back. This rotation will be something once Cueto comes back though.

Our cleanup hitter and ace are out, and our best 8th inning guy missed some important situations during those series. We're hanging in there despite these facts.

The Reds are a very good team, and yes we are one of the best in baseball.

Without question. They haven't played that way quite yet.....but they have the total package to compete with anybody.

4th best record, 4th best run differential (our pythag is 25-15), of course we are one of the best teams in baseball.

Contrary to what some Reds fans believe and think, they are one of the best teams in baseball. Just enjoy it. It's not been long ago they were in the bottom third of baseball.

I agree in that I want to see this team win series' against the teams that matter right now in the NL and that will include teams in the West which we haven't faced yet.

But to answer the thread title directly, yes, the Reds are one of the best. By winning those series' against some of the 'other' best...That's when you can say you're ready to make a WS run.

    This.

And we have done so without Cueto and Ludwick while having Jay Bruce essentially not hit for a month. This is a very, very good team.

I know we've had injuries, but I'm concerned about not beating the good teams and feasting on the terrible ones.

I'm also concerned about Cozart and Frazier at this point.

Still doesn't seem like things are clicking on all cylinders.

Los Rojos are not the best team "right now." But I believe that they are at least in the top 3 in terms of best team in 2013. It's a long season, and the Reds just need to hit a stretch where there are not any major injuries, and everyone is playing at their actual talent levels. Then we will see how good the team really is.

Everytime somebody makes this argument, I can't help but record. What should a very good team's record be against .500+ teams?
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

When you are one of the best teams in baseball, and things aren't clicking on all cylinders, you are one of the best teams in baseball.

I don't think anything could be more simple than that.
