    Garcia to DL

Jaime Garcia heads back to the DL with the same shoulder strain that sidelined him last year. Garcia chose rest as opposed to surgery last year and began feeling discomfort 3 starts ago.

Wainwright will be next. LaRussa wore out all of their arms.

I'm sure the cards will have another magical bean for a pitcher.

Doesn't matter. Whoever they bring up will have an ERA under 2.50.

I've just accepted that the Cardinals will always be good. It's just up to the Reds to be better.

No, they brought Boggs back up. They have 4 starters in the bullpen, probably go with Manness.

Good news for the Cardinals, they get their closer back

90% sure it will be surgery. He had the same thing last year but chose to rest it.

Guess so, that's 3 starters, their closer and their starting SS. That would hurt most teams.

Look around the majors, pretty much every team has similar injuries. Good teams overcome them.

To be fair, no one was expecting Furcal or Carpernter to produce much, even if they were healthy, and I believe even the Cardinlas thought the odds were low that they'd be healthy. And Westbrook might have gotten hurt right when he was about to regress to his old self, so the Cards might have caught a break there.

    Motte was big loss, though.

Furcal maybe, but no one expected Carpenter to be hurt. Hopefully he'll be back in a couple weeks.

As for Westbrook, except for that stint at the end of last year, he's been a workhorse. How many # 5 starters give you 13 wuins and an ERA around 3.50 ?

Westbrook's career ERA is 4.24. He had a 3.97 ERA last year and a 4.66 ERA in 2011. His season up to this point this year (1.62 ERA) was an extreme aberration.
