    Dayton is at South Bend.

Robert Stephenson seems to be getting the hang of the Midwest League. So far today: 5IP 3H 2R 2ER 1BB 7K.

Jesse Winker is bidding to become the first position player to win the MiPOTD without an official at-bat. He has reached base all three times he has come up, two walks and an HBP.

Beau Amaral, Joe Terry and Junior Arias have two hits apiece. Seth Mejias-Brean has doubled.

Dayton leads 5-2 after five full.

Dayton hung on 7-5. Stephenson: 7 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 9 K. Michael Salter apparently prefers to go by Austin, to which South Bend took exception in the eighth and ninth innings. Beau Amaral had three hits. Arias doubled and singled. Winker was 1-2 with his daily two walks.

Bryson Smith got Pensacola going with a leadoff HR in the first, his fifth. Manny Parra threw a parra scoreless frames. It's still 1-0 in the third, with Daniel Renken having taken over for the Hoos.

It's official. Steve Selsky prefers the California League to the Southern. He's 2-2 today. Juan Silva has a 2B and Bakersfield leads High Desert 2-1 in the fourth behind Michael Dennhardt, whose run was unearned.

(If the league has a franchise in High Desert, shouldn't there also be one in Dry Mountain? Or is that the same place?)

Michael Austin does have a nice ring to it.
