My favorite stat - Age of each pitcher:

    Cingrani - 23
    Latos - 25
    Leake - 25
    Bailey - 27
    Cueto - 27
    Arroyo - 36 (but it's a young 36)

All MLB average placement from the above 6 stats:

    14. Cueto
    42. Leake
    43. Bailey
    45. Latos
    52. Cingani
    54. Arroyo

So, it is five #2s, but there's an ace there in front of them.

Nice. When I did it before, Cueto just didn't have enough innings so I was kind of combining he and Cingrani.
    2014 predictions:
99-63 WS champs (Cards take 2nd WC, Mil 3rd, Pit 4th, Chi 5th)
Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner
    Hamilton ROY & GG

    If he isn't a #1, he's pretty close.

Latos, 15th in K's, 37th in WHIP, 26th in ERA. Again, NL rankings only.

The thing is with these three pitchers, the numbers have been trending this way the past three seasons. Each one getting better. Leake is having a kind of breakout season, but really only two things have changed. uptick in K's, keeping the ball in the park. EVERYTHING else is right in line with career norms. So, enjoy it, because that sub .400 SLG against won't last all year. I wish it would, but I don't see it.
I wasn't trying to slight Cueto. When I had figured it up earlier, Cueto had been out quite a while this year, so I was kind of combining his numbers and Cingrani's. But yeah, when healthy, Johnny's fantastic. No doubt.

M2 did a much better job than I did in gathering the info, but yeah...it's true. And it has been for a while now.

And the numbers (the rankings) that he posted may seem deceptive to some. But here's what they basically mean....

    75 starters in the NL.
    1-15 are #1's
    16-30 are #2's
    31-45 are #3's
    46-60 are #4's
    61-75 are #5's

But M2 did it for all of MLB...so the numbers are different.

    1-30 are #1's
    31-60 are #2's
    61-90 are #3's
    91-120 are #4's
    121-150 are #5's

So if it is true, list each man that you are counting (5 total) and tell me where they rank in terms of NL starters number-wise and how you came to that conclusion.

It's a tight squeeze if you want to get them all in from 16th to 30th, but I'd like to see you give it the old college effort. Caveat - 2013 stats to date do not make a pitcher all by themselves.

The only thing I was doing was looking at WAR. Some of the stats that M2 picked, I don't even know what they mean. No clue what dips is for example. And yes, I was only talking about this year.

    9: Mike Leake
    17: Bronson
    18: Cueto
    21: Latos
    47: Homer

This is their current NL ranking in WAR. Back when I did it, they were all in the 16-30 range. Homer's dropped recently and Leake has surged upward. But just look at the ones M2 posted above (those are for this season and for all of MLB).
