Oh he's adorable! I love "Morris" orange tabbies. "Not animal people" tend to warm up fast when the kitten gets to romping and playing. You can't NOT laugh at stuff a kitten gets into!

In an effort to convince her, point out that people who have pets live longer, are healthier and are generally more contented and happy. When we moved from the no-pets apartment, bought the house, and got the furkids, within 6 months hubby's BP dropped to the point where the doc cut his meds by more than half. 16 years later, we still have 4 of the 5 of the stray litter we adopted, hubby's BP is still lower than it was before the "kids" and his cholesterol dropped 25 points...

Re: Look what I found in the driveway

I've tried all the arguments and so far I'm not having much luck. She didn't grow up with animals in the house and doesn't understand the connection people have to them. She basically tolerates him. I grew up with pets and had cats before we married, and I've been trying the 12 years that we've been married to gt her to compromise a little in this area, and I haven't had any success. I've been hearing, "You can get one if......" for years, but if I meet the requirements after the if, more are added. Basically, if I get close to the goal line, it's moved a few yards farther.

With the one I started this thread about, she was showing some signs of coming around, maybe because of the amount of care we were having to give him, but with this one all I keep hearing is, "You need to find a home for him." Maybe she found herself attached to the other one only to have him die and doesn't want to go through that again, or maybe there's another issue going on here. We have a pretty good marriage and there is usually some good give and take, but here it's almost like I'm up against a brick wall. Maybe there's still hope that she'll come around, but if she doesn't I'll make him available here first.

I am 100% dog guy, but even I'll admit that's a very cute kitty.

Well, my wife may be relenting. He was acting incredibly cute and playful today and she gave me the "you can keep him if" line. The conditions are manageable, so it appears that he might be sticking around.

Just a hunch but maybe she really was afraid of getting so attached to something and then having it taken it away.

Sorry to hear about the one dying, orh.

Have you taken this one to the vet yet? Might be worth it just to make sure everything is going as it should.

Yeah, we've had one trip to the vet so far and he's going back in a week for shots. He's been sneezing like crazy and the vet gave me some medicine to give him twice a day, but so far the cold is rather persistent. He's still kind of clogged up and has a runny nose. Other than that, he seems healthier than the other one.

I was out at the store and saw this when I walked back in the door. Maybe he's winning her over.

    SO CUTE!
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

Oh yeah, give it another week or so and she'll be *completely* wrapped around those little bitty paws!

Has he told you his name yet?

A week? Took me about 1 minute.
