I was fantasizing that the Reds might get smart and synergize a bit, and get an actual good postgame concert going sometime, like local Cincinnati band The National.
Instead we get fake Beach Boys and The Rusty Griswalds.

Free pretzel night?
IIRC, they always have a German Heritage night at some point in the fall. I was there one time for a random game that turned out to be German night and it wasn't during Oktoberfest at all. I could be wrong though.
And I would love costume night. There was a guy at the game today who had the wildest Reds themed costume on I've seen in a while. He had this wild jester like red hat on, crazy Reds boxer shorts over some kind of tights, and a big Reds jersey. It doesn't sound that crazy but my friend and I both did a double take, LOL
I would love to see more post game concerts added but I love that the Reds have kept Faith Day going for all these years. Those concerts always get huge crowds at the ballpark. I've seen MercyMe several times, Michael W. Smith, and Steven Curtis Chapman and all of them do wonderful jobs entertaining the fans with great music. Who knows, the Beach Boys may end up being quite fun tomorrow afternoon!
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”
My problem with the Beach Boys is not so much the Beach Boys themselves - I love the Beach Boys' music.
My problem is that they aren't the actual Beach Boys lol. The real band is the one that was in Cincinnati last year at Riverbend. These Beach Boys are the ones that play at Rising Sun Casino and county fairs and stuff.

Back in the day, "Bat Day" at Yankee stadium got you a full-size wooden bat. I still have mine from a trip to NYC as a kid.
Probably the safest subway ride home in the history of the Bronx (everyone armed with a bat).

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
I've always wondered if, after paying the bands, the concert promotions netted much extra money for the Reds. Say you get an extra 10,000 people or so to the park to watch the facsimile of the Beach Boys play after the game. Does the revenue from those extra 10,000 people cover the cost of having the band play play? I'm guessing a promotion like that one is more an investment in trying to get more casual fans exposed to the game who will hopefully return for other games, than it is an actual moneymaker. I don't really know though. I just wonder if too many of these concert promotions would take away regular games where getting some of these fans to return may actually pay-off.

The 4 hats and 4 tickets for $48 sounds like a great deal. I only wear my 59/50 cap, but my wife and kids would like the free hats to wear during the game.
You can always sneak into better seats, but it's embarrassing when a family of four comes back to find you sitting in their seats.
Once (In a 14 inning game) I ended up moving from the outfield bleachers to the infield seats right above the diamond seats. Amazingly, there were Ken Griffey Jr. bobbleheads lying all over the ground, as people had just left and forgotten them.
I still have 5 of them in the box.
I'll just put in this unpaid political comment...
the Reds do a really great job of promoting and marketing the team and having ticket deals all the time. You get on their email list and stuff is coming all the time and I often buy tickets because of this.
And something my wife commented on when we were at the game Friday, *everyone* from ticket takers to concession people, they all say "enjoy the game" as their parting comment. It's a nice touch, kinda like the Chick-Fil-A "my pleasure".
The ballpark experience is 1000% better than the pre-Castellini days. Of course, winning helps, but I think the facts that the team getting better and the whole promotion getting better going hand in hand isn't an accident. Its a sign of a well-managed and well-run company. We are finally lucky in that we have a great owner in BCast. Makes a huge difference.
