I don't condone those actions from other teams, and I'm not going to stick up for him. He's a fool and he's going to get somebody seriously hurt, or get one of our guys hurt.
He shouldn't be staring down pitchers. After that it's fair game.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

Exactly... Obviously Chappy didn't like it as evidenced by the tape. If you think that pitch just got away, your naive. Dusty dismissed the question from the media with a question of his own. He knows what it was

Seriously? I don't care if he stepped out of the box and cursed his mother, you don't throw at a guy's head. Ever. Bush league.

    This is pretty silly.

Drill Swisher tomorrow for good measure.

Chapman's been hit hard lately. Guys are gripping and ripping. The first pitch was nowhere near intentional, and Swisher put on his prolonged tough-guy stare. What do you think would have happened in Gibson or Drysdale's era? Or the 1990 Reds for that matter.

I'm damn glad he did it. Would prefer it's not that far UP but I'm not completely sure Chapman has good enough command to place it as a message pitch. He's got to regain the edge in those situations.
Rounding third and heading for home...

He's representing my team, my city, and my home state. I'm not going to excuse his actions because I root for the team he's on. Carpenter complains about the mound, Redszone doesn't let it go for three years. Chapman tries to kill a guy with a fastball to the temple, and it's ok? He should be suspended by the team for his actions, and I'm dead serious.

As I mentioned, it may not be right, but if you stare down a pitcher get ready for one high and tight.

I agree with you. It is bush league.

But Swisher is one of the great characters of the game, if it was most anyone else they would have charged the mound.

However, Cedric is right too. Don't stare down a man with a gun pointed at you; especially a man who may be a bit mentally unstable. Chappy may be the New Rocker, Mitch Williams or Rob Dibble.

Not really if you ask me. You start staring someone down (for nothing, I might add) knowing full well what the repercussions of that will be and still do it anyway? You're just asking for it, then.

Look, if he would've plunked him on the backside, I wouldn't be making a big deal out of this. He threw at a guy's head. Intentionally. There's no doubt in my mind about that. This isn't 1960, and these actions aren't condoned, especially with what we know about concussions.

I actually loved the way both Swisher and Chapman handled that. Neither one was going to back down, and everything was settled on the playing field. Chapman put a scare into Swisher, but Swisher refused to back down. Real baseball played by real men.

There is zero excuse to throw a 100 mph fastball at someone's head. if Chapman truly intended to do that, he should be sent down to Dayton until he learns to be a man.

Have you read Grisham's baseball novel Calico Joe? Not to spoil it, but one of the main characters is a real jerk baseball player on the field and off. We root for the team has fans. Some fans approve of the players collectively no matter what they do. (Pete rose) Others choose to root harder for the individual players they deem worthy of their unequivocal admiration. (heathers love for Votto) Certainly there are many ways to love the Reds, but I for one root for the team to succeed. I could care-less how winning is accomplished so long as their not cheating the written rules. I want Stubbs, Wood and Alonzo to fail against the Reds every time and I also welcomed Jim Edmonds with welcome arms. Just my two cents on an off day

He's not representing anyone but himself. He's getting paid by a private employer to play baseball and provide entertainment for people who want to pay money to be entertained.

I agree with you on not throwing at peoples' heads. Make no mistake, I think if you're going to throw at people (which I dislike too), it shouldn't be headhunting. But you are not being represented whatsoever. He's putting on a uniform of a team that you like. Nothing more, nothing less.
