    Minor League Updates: Friday 5/31/2013

Louisville is up in Toledo tonight. Pedro Villarreal is on the mound.

Louisville got back-to-back one-out singles by Rodriguez and Soto in the first but could not push across any runs.
Pedro Villarreal gave up a walk and bomb in the second.
Mike Hessman led off the top of the fifth with his 14th jack on the season.
Toledo leads 2-1 with the Bats still hitting in the top of the fifth.

Billy Hamilton led off the sixth with a double. He moved to third on a ground out and then scored on a fielder's choice. The ball was hit to the third baseman who came home. Hamilton was called safe. Mud Hens' manager and catcher were both ejected arguing the call. In any case it is all tied up after 6 at 2 apiece.

Seven innings in the books and still 2-2.

    Villarreal goes seven: 7IP 4H 2R 2ER 3BB 3K.

Jumbo Diaz comes on and works a scoreless eight but gives up a run in the ninth as Louisville falls 3-2.

Henry Rodriguez goes 2 for 4. Mike Hessman is 1 for 2 with two walk. The hit being the solo homer.

Jacksonville is at Pensacola. Josh Smith with pitching duties for the Wahoos.

A two-out single by Tucker Barnhart was followed by a run-scoring double off the bat of Bryson Smith.

Pensacola leads 1-0 at the end of three.

Jacksonville ties it with a run in the top of the fourth. Heading into the fifth it is one up.

Pensacola retakes a one-run lead on singles in the fifth by Lohman, Greene And LaMarre. Blue Fish lead 2-1 after five full.

Josh Smith goes 6.2 innings, giving seven hits and two walks. He allowed just the one run and fanned seven.
Lee Hyde pitched a scoreless frame and Loek Van Mil saves (3) it for Smith in the ninth.

Brodie Greene went 2 for 3. Nobody else had more than one hit.

Dayton's start was delayed tonight. They are hosting Lake County.

It looks as if they should have promoted Nick Travieso to Dayton a little sooner as Ismael Guillon is pitching like he means it. He is spotless through three innings, striking out four.
Seth Mejias-Brean has been the lone Dragon base runner, doubling in the second.

    No score through 3.

Guillon walked a batter in the fourth but still has his no-hitter intact.

No score through five. Dragons have the only hit.

Ismael pitched into the sixth giving up a run on three hits. The only hits Lake County banged out on the evening. Ben Klimesh pitched 2.1 perfect innings, striking out four. Alejandro Chacin pitched a perfect ninth. Chacin (still just 19) is compiling some pretty eye-catching stats. On the year he has pitched 29.1 innings. He has allowed just 11 hits. He has walked 12 and struck out 33.

Doubles by Winker, Mejias-Brean and Junior Arias were all the offense Dayton could muster.

    Lake County 1 Dayton 0.

Bakersfield is playing host to Rancho Cucamonga again tonight and is sending out Carlos Contreras.

Contreras has hurled two hitless innings striking out three.
Bakersfield hitters have come out Blazing. Collectively, they hit for the cycle in the first inning in the process of scoring three. They have tacked on one more in the second and lead 4-0.

The team cycle consisted of YRod (double) Smith (homer) Duran (triple) and Waldrop (single).

In his last nine plus games, Yorman Rodriguez has just eight hits. But six of them have gone for extra bases (5 doubles, 1 triple). Additionally, he has walked 6 times.

Kyle Waldrop stroked his second single of the game and scored on a Juan Silverio double. Yovan Gonzalez also has singled twice and scored two runs. He was plated by a Marquez Smith sac fly and then strolled home ahead of Yorman Rodriguez, who parked one. His seventh on the season.

Carlos Contreras has yielded a pair of runs on three hits and a walk, while striking out five. Blaze lead 7-2. Contreras left after five innings with this line. 5IP 4H 3R 3ER 2BB 5K. Jamie Walczak pitched a virgin frame. Jimmy Moran and Kyle McMyne pitched.

Bakersfield just kept on hitting. Eventually winning 14-7.

Ryan Wright ended the night 2-5, 2 runs scored.
Yorman Rodriguez had a big night. 2-3, 2 walks, a double and a home run, 3 runs scored, 2 driven home.
Marquez Smith was 4-4, two singles, a double and a home run, 2 runs scored, 5 driven in.
Kyle Waldrop had a pair of singles, walked, scored a run, plated a run.
Yovan Gonzalez (.337) had a 2-3 night, two singles, two walks, scored 4 runs.
