This is true. But he's only in competition to be the "8th inning guy" for the Reds with one other player, hence my comparison.

It's one scoring situation in the game, come on. They scored three other runs this game, too.

Agreed. Exactly the kind of refurbished AAAA starting pitcher that should be routinely converted to relief. I love his toughness, too. The job he and Latos did in game one of the playoffs last season is one of my favorite moments from the 2013 team.

I completely hear you though. No one expected this. Not even LeCure's family, probably.
I remember him being something of a soft tossing righty as a starter, as a prospect. When they finally made him a reliever, he's started bringing it.

I still remember when they brought up LeCure for a "spot start" in 2010 a couple months into the season. I thought "Well, this guy is an OK Triple-A pitcher, but he'll never make it in the Bigs."

And this is why I'm posting on a message board and Walt Jocketty is running a baseball team.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even though LeCure has been BABIP lucky this season, his other peripherals don't look to be too out of the ordinary per his career. So even if he comes down to earth a bit, he's still gonna have an ERA in the 2's most likely I would think.
