    Minor League Updates: Wednesday 6/5/2013

Predictably, Chad Reineke gets the start in place of the newest Cincinnati Red - Pedro Villarreal.

Bats trail 2-0 in the fourth. Reineke has given up two runs on seven hits. Bats have singles by Negron, Perez and Soto and little else.

Bats fall behind 7-1 but are clawing their way back. A run in the seventh and three in the eighth have made it a 7-5 Norfolk lead.

Reineke 5IP 7H 2R 2ER 2BB 3K. MacDougal got slapped around for five runs in one inning of work. Jumbo Diaz has pitched 2 perfect innings, striking out 2.

Negron, Perez and Soto with two hits each now. Perez has driven home a pair.

Corky Miller and Mike Hessman (15) homer in the ninth. Nick Christiani pitches a scoreless inning. Free baseball tied at 7.

Curtis Partch allows a run in the top of the tenth and the Bats are all out of comebacks. They fall to Norfolk 8-7.

Pensacola dropped the suspended game 4-2. They led 2-1 when the game was halted but Montgomery had two runners on with one out. Brian Pearl was handed the ball and promptly gave up a triple to the first batter he faced to hairball the lead.

Travis Mattair singled in the ninth as Pensacola went down with a whimper.

The regularly scheduled game was postponed due to Tropical Storm Andrea.

Dayton is sending Ismael Guillon to the mound tonight. Guillon had a very impressive start last time out. Dayton goes out in order in the top half of the first.

Guillon no-hit the Hot Rods of Bowling Green for four innings but his control has been more than a little shaky. 5IP 1H 2R 2ER 5BB 3K.

Dayton has scored in 3 of the first five innings and lead 4-2.

Beau Amaral has doubled and tripled. Junior Arias has gone one better with a double and a blast. Brandon Dailey and Seth Mejias-Brean each have doubled. All six of the Dragon hits have gone for extra bases.

Joel Bender, making his first appearance in a month, pitches a scoreless sixth. Dragons add a run in the sixth. 5-2. Bender then gives up a run in the seventh. Middle of 8, Dayton hanging on by a score of 5-3.

Sean Lucas makes it interesting in the ninth but picks up his 8th save of the season with two shutout innings of work.

Villareal's warmed up. He can probably come in as relief.

Bakersfield has gone six up and six down to start their game against High Desert. Mike Dennhardt struck out the side in the first around four hits. Blaze have spotted High Desert a 3 zip lead.

Mike Dennhardt was hammered tonight. His line 2IP 10H 9R 9ER 2BB 4K. That will take a toll on the old ERA. Blaze trail 9-0 after two.

Juan Silverio doubled and rode home on a Kyle Waldrop singled. Dennhardt is still on the mound and gave that run back in the bottom of the third. 10-1.

That did not seem right that they would leave Dennhardt in there that long. And it wasn't. The beating was spread around over three pitchers. Dennhardt went 1+. Also getting tattoed were McMyne and Gonzalez. The score is now 12-3.

Marquez Smith and Steve Selsky have a pair of hits each.
