The Reds signed a pair of undrafted Ohio college players after the draft who happen to be the progeny of Reds executives. Joe Jocketty, whom the Cubs drafted out of a St. Louis high school in ’09, is the son of GM Walt Jocketty. J.R. Reynolds, who previously attended Cincinnati’s Moeller High, is the son of pro/global scouting director Terry Reynolds.

I always found it curious that, to my knowledge, the Reds don't publicly release information on draft signings. I would imagine quick press releases with players and the bonus wouldn't be too onerous; or perhaps even in digest form, a weekly release announcing all the signings of the past seven days.

Anybody have an idea why they don't announce draft signing information?

As a teenage star athlete I would guess he has 1 thing on his mind and redszone ain't it.

I wouldn't be surprised if more people read redszone than we think though. I definitely think Chris Welsh does.

IMO the success (probably an overstatement) of this draft class after the 5th round will come down to whether or not we can sign one or both of Abreu/Morales, especially since it appears Benintendi and Collins are definitely not signing.
