Reds take RHP Ben Lively out of Central Florida, 6' 4", draft notes say:

Lively has never wowed scouts with his raw stuff, but he has quietly put together a solid college career. He isn't afraid to attack hitters with his four-pitch arsenal even though he doesn't feature a plus pitch. Lively's fastball sits in the low-90s and his slider is his best secondary offering. Listed at 6-foot-4, 211 pounds and out of Central Florida, Lively has ideal size for a right-hander. He commands all four of his pitches well and his delivery creates some deception. Lively has performed well in a few high-profile matchups this season, beating Jacksonville's Chris Anderson and Marshall's Aaron Blair.

And there's loads of gags in the name. Have at it.

I don't have much of an opinion on Ben Lively, but I twitch whenever the Reds pick someone from Central Florida.

I believe Sickels had him rated as his 50th best pitcher in the draft. I guess that's OK value for pick 135...

I really wish we'd take more guys with upside in rounds 3-10. In this case that would be a guy like Jacob Brentz or Dustin Driver. I don't get what the point is of having solid college players that don't project to anything at the major league level, which seems to be Buckely's specialty- especially after the 3rd round.

Even if they don't sign, at this point who cares? You lose nothing by not trying.

Command of 4 pitches and some deception--and yet he doesn't impress scouts? Seems some disconnect there.

Low 90s fb and 3 other pitches? With good command of all 4? That fb must be stringline straight if he doesn't impress...

Another legacy pick: Marlins select Chad Wallach, son of Tim.

So far in 5 picks there are 3 guys who should move quickly...polish and potential with just 1 of them having star type ceiling. 2 HS guys 1 raw the other seemingly pretty developed considering a HS arm. Seems to hedging bets toward safe picks with 1 real wildcard in Franklin.
