    Minor League Updates: Wednesday 6/12/2013

Dayton hosting the Hot Rods once again.

Sal Romano has put up four goose eggs in five innings. Unfortunately, he was whacked around in the third to the tune of seven runs. He is finished for the night. 5IP 8H 7R 6ER 0BB 4K.

Daniel Pigott is making his Dragons' debut. He has reached on an error, singled, stolen a base and scored the lone Dayton run.

Dayton chipped away with a run in the fifth on a Brandon Dailey solo homer. They trail 7-2.

Correction: Daniel Pigott is in his third game. Looking at the roster it seems as if Robert Ramirez is no longer on the roster. Yep, Ramirez was sent back to extended spring training.

DSL Reds bushwhacked the DSL Snakes by a score of 16-2.

Eury Cantalizo went five strong, giving up two unearned runs while striking out five. Adolfi Telleria tossed three scoreless frames, striking out three. Josue Castellano pitched a perfect ninth, striking out one. DSL pitchers did not walk a batter in the game.

Derik Capitillo making a strong bid for RedsZone recognition by going 3 for 6. He doubled twice, went yard, and drove home six. Geraldo Valor, Jose de Luna and Miguel Mendez had three hits apiece. Jose Siri is looking like a keeper. He went 2-5 with a walk. He also tripled, scored twice and drove in a pair.

Jesus Adames relieved Romano but was suffering by a serious case of the Guillons. In one inning of work he spewed out three hits and walked five. F-I-V-E. Tony Amezcua came on to the limit the damage by pitching two perfect innings while striking out three. And I spoke too soon as Amezcua has just allowed a run in the ninth.

Joe Terry and Jeff Gelalich have slapped a pair of singles each. Brandon Dailey has singled and homered. Junior Arias doubled and stole base number 34.

Going into the bottom of the ninth, the Dragons need five for free baseball and six to walkoff winners. They trail 11-6.

Seth Mejias-Brean singled to join the two-hit club but was stranded at first as the Dragons are extinguished by that 11-6 score.

DSL Orioles "B" Squad handle the DSL Rojos today. 4-1.

Rojos' starter gave up all four runs in just three innings of work. The bullpen was superlative in six scoreless innings on the mound. They allowed just two hits and struck out seven. Gregory Reinoso was particularly effective. He pitched 3.1 hitless innings, striking out five.

Rojos; hitters could manage just six singles, three coming off the bat of Pabel Manzanero.

Visalia and Bakersfield involved in an old-fashioned Western shoot-out last night and the Blaze come up short on bullets. They fall 14-9 despite getting 12 hits, 6 walks and 5 Visalia miscues.

Johnathan Moscot: 4IP 6H 4R 4ER 4BB 4K. Kyle Lotzkar pitched next and has apparently hit rock bottom, allowing 6 earned runs in just one-third of an inning.

Stephen Selsky does not like Bakersfield, he LOVES Bakersfield. 4-5, 3 runs scored, 4 driven home, two doubles and his 7th homer since being demoted. He is OPSing .970 out in the Cali League. Yorman Rodriguez went 3-4 with a walk. He doubled, tripled and touched the pay station a couple of times. Juan Duran singled twice and walked. In a bit of an oddity, Juan Silverio went hitless but still managed to collect three ribbies.

Sad that it's looking more and more like Lotzkar will be the first Reds first/sandwich round pick in the last 10 years not to make the majors. That's still some streak!
    Go BLUE!!!
