He has pitched better his last two times out. I agree he can certainly turn it around.

But there have been a number of troubling stats.
False. Until the 6 ER performance, his FIP was 3.00. He was having a good season, overall, until that time. He'd only given up runs in five of 25 appearances. Further, despite the blow-up in one game, his OPS against is a respectable .700. Take away that one game, and it was in the .500's. That is actually a very good season.

Carpenter hit in the back with a 99 MPH fastball. It's first and second.

Smoltz had a similar outing years back and it took the entire season for his numbers to catch up. The fact that Brox's ERA isn't much higher is pretty good.
I'm not going to do it again, I've posted Broxton's stats in other threads.

He hasn't had a good year. His K rate is down. His ERA is poor. His LOB rate is poor. His velocity is down.

He showed signs of improvement his last times out. But this is not a lights out reliever, not so far this season.

    We're good again!

    everybody unclench your cheeks.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."
