Bad baserunning by Votto, but Speier has to take some blame there, too. He needs to be more animated in telling Votto to slide.

I think Votto is afraid to slide after his injury. He's very tentative when a slide is imminent.
Looks like Votto was decoyed by the third baseman.
And in the time it took Votto to get from 2nd to 3rd, he couldn't change that to the slide sign?
Speier had his hands up over his head so Votto assumed that he could go in standing up. That's on Speier.
