"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

The caption of that photo of him starts out something like "Majewski started out in the t-ball fields and now finds himself..." and as I read it I thought to myself "it's gonna say he's back at the t-ball fields, that sounds about right."
They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

Sitting back and doing nothing worked like a charm in 2011 for the Reds.

I think Krusty should sue for trademark infringement

Oy vey. I hate hypothetical trade proposals.

I hate remembering The Trade. Unfortunately, it's burned in my brain like a bad freshman year dorm drinking progressive.

I would trade Nate for a musician to be named later

In 2012, we did acquire Broxton at the deadline. It's a move of moderation, not a "Slobberknocker" and not sitting there doing nothing.

I think we'll see a similar move this year as well.

In 2012, the Reds were in 1st place (62-41) and 3.0 games up on the competition at the trading deadline. Traded for Broxton at the deadline. Not to mention the Reds maintained a healthy lineup and pitching staff which was somewhat unprecedented. Starting 5 pitchers made all but 1 start.

In 2011, the Reds were in 4th place (53-55) and 6.5 games out at the trading deadline.

In 2010, the Reds were a half game out of first place (58-47) at the trading deadline. Traded for Jim Edmunds on August 9th.

In 1012, the Reds were in first place at the trading deadline. But stll they traded for Barney Rubble at the deadline to improve the team.

How about this thread to a Padres board for some bandwidth to be named later?

Re: Slobberknocker trade proposal to shake things up!!

It's funny when you go look at the stats and try and come up with a trade. Obviously, most, if not all of the players doing well are playing for contenders. It's hard to find a guy doing well on a bad team right now.

Joe Mauer is doing well, minus the power. But he's OPSing .912. But he's too expensive and doesn't make sense for the Reds.

Other than the Milwaukee guys (Braun, Aoki, Segura).......and I wouldn't touch Braun with a 100 ft pole........the first non-contending guy I come to is Jose Bautista and his 14 HR's, .370 OBP, .267 average, and .886 OPS.

Oops. Skipped over David Wright of the Mets. But he's too expensive and a fan favorite in New York.

I just don't see any potential upgrades at this point. If you could acquire Bautista, I'd bat him second because of his OBP, and leave BP doing his fabulous job of knocking in runs at cleanup.

But in the end, I don't see the Reds upgrading LF. I think they wait for Ludwick to come back, or go with Paul/Heisey, etc.

Oops. Just saw Alex Gordon (KC) as another alternative upgrade.

Too bad we didn't trade for Dominic Brown a month ago. LOL. Dude is surging. 19 HR's. 6 in his last 10 games. Problem is he bats left.

And that whole aspect of the Phillies not trading away one of their young, cheap pieces at the beginning of may...
