Can anybody in this bullpen pitch?
First they give LeClure the attempt to pitch in the 8th and he starts pitching badly.
They give Simon a chance to close a game out and he throws this up...even if it is a 5 run lead?
They should be looking for outside options now.......not hope it starts getting better.

Reds bullpen has been horrific. Over the last six games:
IP - 18.1
H - 33
R - 24
BB - 9
SO - 18
HR - 5
ERA - 11.91
Mercy. Reds 3-4, but without the pen, it's probably 5-2.

Again, to me it's the lack of aggression in the zone. Simon threw a 3-2 curveball up by 5 runs in the 9th to walk a batter. Bryan Price was practically on the field before the batter walked to first probably telling Simon to trust his stuff and quit worrying about making the perfect pitch.
Another great game by Homer Bailey. He seems to be relying on his splitter more and more this year as an out pitch. It definitely fooled several Cubbies hitters tonight.
Quick question - why wasn't Cozart's pop-up called an infield fly? This is the one where it was dropped by the pitcher's mound and they forced Choo at second.

Thank goodness for Brandon Phillips or the Reds may have been shut out last night. Another good game by Homer. Another thank goodness for a big lead. The bullpen is still shaky. The fog reminded me of that playoff game between the Bears and Eagles in the late 80's. You could hardly see the field that day. I could see this game pretty well on my big TV watching through MLBTV. I turned on my Kindle to see it and I could hardly tell what was going on. I believe the players could see well enough on the field. When they would show a field level shot things looked a lot better. Would have been a perfect night for Josh Fogg to pitch with the Cubs that is not the Reds.
