Yes I do any deal with those as main pieces. I think Profar has a good chance to have a higher WAR over the next 6 seasons and will be quite a bit cheaper. Obviously there is risk that he never pans out. Bailey also could blow arm out next start. Gonna be risk in any deal but would try it here.
They could have Bailey and any current Minor Leaguer other than Stephenson.
I don't see Profar going anywhere and I really don't like the idea of the Reds trading any of the 6 starting pitchers they've been using. The Rangers will find plenty of PT for Profar. Andrus is OPSing 40 points less than Cozart, Nelson Cruz may be on the sidelines at some point. Ian Kinsler may start getting some regular time at 1B. I think Profar will be the Rangers supersub who plays 6 ro 7 positions and is in the line-up most days.
The Rangers will probably go after an arm by dangling Mike Olt and maybe Martin Perez. They have a few lower level guys to add to a deal to get it done (Luis Sardinas, Luke Jackson, Nicholas Martinez, Lewis Brinson, Rougned Odor etc.) They won't need to deal Profar because they can put together a package to get just about any arm on the market from a rebuilding team. I'd imagine Matt Garza could be had for Olt and Perez. Maybe Olt and a lesser arm or two would get him. Ricky Nolasco will be out there for less than that. Edinson, Ubaldo, maybe Yovanni, Kevin Correia, other names will surafce I'd bet.

Having better players makes "the right time" or "the big hit" happen a lot more often. PLUS PLUS
When you can get the kind of offensive production that Profar projects to give you, from a position like SS, you do it. Especially when your dealing from a position of strength. The Reds have too many pitchers and won't be able to sign them all.
If they wanted Bailey for Profar straight up, I'd try to get the paperwork done as fast as possible before they could change their minds. Anyone who wouldn't trade your non-ace pitcher, who will most likely walk after next season to get five years of a young SS who's as much of a sure thing as Profar is a fool. Bailey isn't the backbone of this team or this pitching staff. And it's not like we don't have young guys in the minors who could be up here in a year or three contributing to our rotation.
The kind of GMs that let one of Latos/Bailey/Cueto walk away to free agent and get nothing in return are the Mike Brown's of the world. Refusing to trade Bailey straight up for Profar is something I'm not sure even Mike Brown would do. I'd trade Bailey and Hamilton for him right this second.
I think there's a whole lot of overvaluing of our own players going on in this thread.
You make that trade, you probably re-sign Choo.
Non-hypothetical trade idea:
Corky's mustache to the Angels for Trout. Sure the Reds would be giving up too much for Trout, but sometimes you have to do things you don't want to
"But I do know Joey's sister indirectly (or foster sister) and I have heard stories of Joey being into shopping, designer wear, fancy coffees, and pedicures."
It'll be tough, but I think you've got to do the deal for Trout and just hope he decides to grow something next year.

Both are somewhere in Northern California and have never been seen together....
While I love the idea of Profar, a lower risk perhaps higher likelihood offseason trade for a young SS could be Ryan Hanigan to the Rays for either Tim Beckham or the currently injured Hak-Ju Lee.
Rays have long been admirers of Hanigan and they have a lot of middle infield depth between Escobar, Zobrist, K.Johnson and these two prospects currently in AAA. Meanwhile Mez will be ready to take on 130 games next year and Barnhart or a cheap veteran option could backfill the other 30-35 starts. Thoughts?
