Whoa!!! Look who we have leading off today. How do you like that? I think I might like this. I would seriously reverse Iztouris and Leake. The game today is a 2:20 game time. I don't think their is Reds televison today. It is on the MLB network and a Cubs broadcast.

    6. Todd Frazier (R) 3B
    7. Devin Mesoraco (R) C
    8. Cesar Izturis (S) SS
    9. Mike Leake (R) P

    Wow, didn't expect this lineup.

And that Cubs lineup sure is left-tastic.

If they want to sit Soriano, ok with me. Not a lot of power without him.

Really would like to see the Reds pickup a guy like Pedro Ciriaco to be the backup IF over Cesar.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Cozart has an very good night at the plate...bench him the next afternoon against a lefty for one of the worst hitters in baseball. BRILLIANT!

Geez, it may have something to do with the fact that Cozart is 1 for 13 with 6 K's against Wood, making today a good opportunity to give Zach a day off. There is, more likely than not, solid reasoning for the lineup changes that Dusty makes if one takes the time to research it. Also, he doesn't like his players rotting on the bench. Each player will get some time on the field.

The Dusty bashing seems to be overtaking these game threads anymore.

I do not see my post as dusty bashing, it was simply something I noticed and disagreed with.

13 at bats = small sample size.

    Dusty got em goin'.

This kind of stuff happens when you have scheduled days off. No biggie. He'll get an AB or two.

Izturis got a double late last night, I wonder if Dusty wants to give him some confidence by playing him and hoping he does ok following that.

I take the decision to hit Choo second as recognition of his trouble v. lefties. Maybe Robinson bunts or slaps his way on and Choo makes a productive out and moves him over.

Otherwise I don't know why he bunched up his lefty hitters against Wood. Travis is better v. lefties (rather than righties) so far this year.

My guess is he wants to try and get Choo going again by batting him 2nd.

I like having Choo, Votto, Phillips, Bruce, and Frazier all bunched together. Best lineup of the season imo

Was just coming to post that. Plus, having Choo in front of Joey can only help, imo.

Which means we'll score 1 run.

    Go get'em, boys!

If only Dusty didn't randomly try it against one of the hottest lefties in the NL

Funny. When I saw the lineup earlier I thought that this is the worst lineup of the season by Dusty.

Why bunch up your lefty hitters against Wood? I can speculate, as I did in an earlier post, but on reflection it really makes very little sense to me.

Why sit Cozart against Wood? Four game series, one lefty starter, Wood, so this game you sit him? Izturis is a switch hitter, he can go 0-4 from either side.

Wood doesn't have great control, if the Reds wait him out that might help, but I would have used a very different lineup today.

P.S. I see that Cozart has a poor hitting record against Wood. Fine, but until the team adds some righty pop, I still would have used him.
