Friday June 21st minor league updates

The AZL Reds trail 4-0 in the 6th inning. Cory Thompson is 1-for-3 with a double.

Jackson Stephens (RHP, 18th round pick out of an Alabama HS in 2012) makes his Dayton debut tonight. He posted a 9.28 K/9, 1.27 BB/9, and 4.64 ERA but 2.78 FIP in 21.1 innings with the AZL Reds last season.

Franderlin Romero had a strong start for the AZLs (5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5K), but the Slovakian lefty, Jakub Izold, received a rough welcome with three runs in the sixth. . . . After a robust offensive performance on opening night, today it's been, well, not so much.

Later: And down they go, 5-0.

Junior Arias just homered for the second time tonight, his 9th and 10th of the season. Dating back to last night, Arias has homered in three straight plate appearances.

Wow. He's up with 2 on and none out right now.

Hit into a GDP on outside fastball.

Of note: If he hits his 3rd HR tonight, he'll join Wily Mo, Juan Francisco and Byron Wiley as the only Dragons to ever do it.

Phillip Ervin singled and stole second base in his first atbat of the night. He apparently made a great throw from RF in the second inning too.

Pensacola won 9-3. In addition to Yorman's good night of 2 for 4 with a W, Mattair got three hits and Matt Kennelly went 4 for 5.
