    Re: VILLAINS!!

Ah, but the best villains don't always consider themselves such!

    A few of my favorites:

Bob Roberts, as played by Tim Robbins

    Keyser Söze, whoever he is

Richard III, even though he declares himself a villain in Act I, Scene I. Even though I disagree with his theory about the character, Ian McKellan's performance is the standard here.

Macbeth too. Shakespeare wrote good villains.

Cthulhu, of the Lovecraftian mythos and South Park.

Robert E. Lee, a good man who chose loyalty over conscience.

Bad Locke. Before he turned, Benjamin Linus.

Before he turned, Spike from Buffy. Even more so, Angelus.

    Dr. Strangelove.
It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.

And Robert Shaw, in the original Pelham 123. Calculating, calm, menacing.

    Re: VILLAINS!!

Harry Lime, Orson Wells' character in The Third Man. This scene shows why:

One of the best explanations for why a person becomes a villain that I've heard.

btw, I wanted to embed this video, but I've taken a percocet for my current kidney stone, and I absolutely can't remember how, even though I've probably posted fifty youtube videos here.

The best thing about the gooch is that we never saw him. Made him much worse.
