    Acoustic Guitars

    Hi all,

The recent "things I want to learn to do" thread had quite a few responses pertaining to learning to play a guitar, so I thought why not start a new thread!

For those of you who play, what kind of guitars do you own (acoustic or electric) and how long have you been playing? Any of you play professionally?

For those who want to learn, I figured this could be a useful thread to gain some valuable information.

I'll start--I own 2 acoustic guitars, an early 70's Yamaha FG 110 that was given to me in high school. I learned how to play on this and never looked back. I also own a Taylor 314ce, that I purchased about a year ago. This is my baby, and it sounds beautiful - very bright and responsive.

So I've been playing for about 7 years, never been to an actual lesson, but I like to think I get by. Lots of practice and calluses.

I only have electric guitars and never took a lesson either. Started playing while in my junior year in college (we'll just say that was a decade or so ago) in the hopes that all those hot chicks I would see at the side of the stage at concerts would like guitar-playin' me lol. Played in bar bands for just under 10 yrs. Now just play with youtube and my old band buddies on occasion, but I still love learning a new song or writing an original.

2004 Gibson Les Paul Studio, 1985 Gibson Flying V XPL, 1994 Gibson Nighthawk Studio w/ 3 pickups, 1992 Jackson Rhoads V RR-1, 1991(?) Charvel Rhoads V, 1990 Washburn Lyon (custom painted w/ a scene too evil to share here lol), 1985 Kramer Focus 5000, 2003 Epiphone Les Paul Standard (autographed by Dream Theater, for real). I also have two bass guitars that are both Ibanez.

    Is it a red label?

If so, those are fine instruments.

I have a Taylor 310ce and a Gibson SG limited with the vintage sunburst finish.

That's quite the impressive collection. I've been tempted to purchase an electric a few times... I never pull the trigger though.

Unfortunately, no... I never even looked in the label the first few years of owning the guitar. Once I started reading a bit more on them and trying to understand the different makes/models/wood combos etc... I was kinda disappointed it wasn't a red label. BUT, for being an all laminate guitar, it sounds and plays fantastic. Everyone I know who's played it think the same as well.
