    Kevin Gregg Makes Sense

With the Cubs out of contention already, having Kevin gregg as a closer is meaningless. Could we get him for a decent prospect as he makes next to nothing.

The Reds would be foolish to trade anything more than Corky Miller for Kevin Gregg.

Watching Kevin Gregg on a regular would probably make us appreciate guys like Hoover and LeCure a lot more. So there's that.

Yeah he's a Billy Taylor type of reliever.

I would hate to give up Corky for him. Pass.

Having a good year so far, would take him over Simon, Partch, Ondrusek.

Simon is better than Gregg IMO. Ondrusek isn't on the team. Partch... is an emergency fill-in.

I guess it depends on who the team has to give up, but Gregg would definitely not bring the stability to the 'pen we're looking for. At best, he's J.J. Hoover with more mileage.

I don't care about 19 innings of unsustainable performance this season, Kevin Gregg has a track record of failure.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

A guy in a similar position (former closer picked up by a go-nowhere NL Central team who likely wouldn't cost much to acquire) who is more intriguing to me is K-Rod himself, Francisco Rodriguez.

With a name like Arquimedez, he missed his destiny to be a pitcher with a nasty screwball.
Burn down the disco. Hang the blessed DJ. Because the music that he constantly plays, it says nothing to me about my life.

    Pete Rose - androgynous - apt for a switch-hitter.
