“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
I like taht Baker is trying Robinson in the #2 spot.
now at a robust.163 BA, would Hanigan still have his #1 catcher job if he was batting .100?
In 2012, Votto's 1st off-day was 5/30. Slash line of .325/.463/.598/1.060. After the next 25 games, it was .354/.476/.639/.1.114.
Within those 25 games, he reached base in 23 of them. Also within those 25 games, hitting streaks of 8 games and 9 games. I stopped at 25 games, because the 26th game is the one we'd all like to forget about in San Francisco.
I didn't go back and look at previous years, but I bet you find something similar. The guy is incredible after his batteries have been recharged. He's a machine.

I'm glad Joey is finally getting a day off (especially tonight since I won't be home and can't watch the game anyway, LOL).
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

I am not saying it is a bad lineup at all. But without Votto and the other switches it looks like someone drew names out of a hat.
I would have given him yesterday off since it was a road game, and the series was already won.....but that's just me (since it went 14 though, there's a chance he would done more than just pinch hit).
He needs it though. Hopefully it kicks him back into gear.
Hanigan has a very low BABIP, maybe things will turn around for him.
Tonight's line-up makes me appreciate the name Votto being in it most every other night.
Isn't Lohse pitching? Did they substitute a lefty?
Not sure I understand sitting Votto and XPaul against a tough righty. Votto does hit everyone but against RHP he's 200 points higher in OPS this year.
Just like Cozart sat against a lefty this week.
I do agree that both Joey and XPaul did not look their best yesterday. Maybe that's the reason.
And also, Hannahan doesn't hit lefties much. So if he's the backup, it may explain why Joey would sit and Jack would play v. a righty.
And Dusty doesn't like Paul against crafty types, he likes him against fastball pitchers.
Whatever, I'm sure there's a reason for it.
