I'm interested to see how he comes back next year. He's inconsistent with the curveball, and in turn, seems gun shy of throwing it which is probably making it even more inconsistent. The good news is the pitch is occasionally very good and he hasn't been throwing it long. Give him a few months of no pressure tinkering and I wouldn't be shocked to see him arrive in 2014 looking like a completely new pitcher.

If its his confidence in the secondary stuff & not the stuff itself it seems that there isn't much reason to have him pitch in AAA.

I can see both sides. I would say AAA and forcing him to throw the offspeed stuff more and succeeding with it would give him confidence in it. He is less likely to succeed with it in the Majors because the hitters are better. Eventually I believe he will get there, but I think he could get there quicker by using it in AAA more and experiencing success with it quicker instead of using it less at the MLB level.

Fangraphs has a brief interview with Cingrani up and he claimed to have all 4 pitches still -- as opposed to shift from slider to curve. FWIW.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I actually just went back and looked, he is throwing the slider again. He didn't throw it in April and only a handful of times in May. Still leaning on the curve more than the slider.
