Mattingly came out to protest, Sandoval was given an out even though he never came to bat, and the run was taken back per MLB rules.
Starling Marte homers on a 3-2 count with 2 outs in the 9th to tie the game in Chicago. Thanks for nothing, Cubs.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."
But the Pirates lost in the end.

Rounding third and heading for home...
I wish Tony C had a curveball that looked like that.
I noticed Drew Stubbs has not been caught stealing this year. 10 stolen bases without being thrown out. For his career he has 120 stolen bases and has been caught just 27 times. That works out to a very impressive 81.6% success rate. I have never been able to figure why he doesn't run more when he reaches base. Seems like a waste. But, like bunting, I suppose stealing bases does not define Drew as a baseball player.
Heads of state that ride and wrangle. That look at your face from more than one angle. Can cut you from their bloated budgets. Like sharpened knives through Chicken McNuggets.
Don't know where else to put it and it's not really worthy of it's own thread, but the Cardinals released Ty Wigginton.
