Revealing the weakness of the pitching of the Pirates and Cards.
Jeff Locke is going to be a perfect example of this.

His ERA will be in the mid 4's by August.

Apparently Bochy decided today to have Posey bat cleanup instead of batting 3rd (switching places with Sandoval). I don't know if nobody told Posey, or what, but Posey comes up 3rd, hits a double and scores a run.

Mattingly came out to protest, Sandoval was given an out even though he never came to bat, and the run was taken back per MLB rules.

Starling Marte homers on a 3-2 count with 2 outs in the 9th to tie the game in Chicago. Thanks for nothing, Cubs.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

But the Pirates lost in the end.

Is that Rosario? I can't believe he didn't flip out (unless that was being called a strike all night long, and he knew it.)

    What a terrible call.

    That's a Glavine-esque strike call, circa 1995.

It wasn't as bad as it looks. The camera is off center, and that is playing into it somewhat. Pitch F/X had it just a few inches off of the plate.

I wish Tony C had a curveball that looked like that.

I noticed Drew Stubbs has not been caught stealing this year. 10 stolen bases without being thrown out. For his career he has 120 stolen bases and has been caught just 27 times. That works out to a very impressive 81.6% success rate. I have never been able to figure why he doesn't run more when he reaches base. Seems like a waste. But, like bunting, I suppose stealing bases does not define Drew as a baseball player.

But how many games have the Indians won when Stubbs has scored?

Or maybe one of the reason he's so succesful is becasue he picks his spots well?

Don't know where else to put it and it's not really worthy of it's own thread, but the Cardinals released Ty Wigginton.

I never understood why they signed him in the first place.

Maybe it's because his name is fun to say if you use an exaggerated upper-class British accent
