Oh, so Chapman should pitch the eighth and ninth. How about the tenth and eleventh?

Simon had kind of a long day yesterday. Three innings.

    Hoover is 0-5 with a 5 ERA.

Partch? Do you follow the minor leagues?

Cingrani was the correct choice and he did great.

That Alvarez matchup was tailor-made for Cingrani, which is why, tight zone notwithstanding, I didn't mind the walk too much.

When Marshall comes back, I think you can kiss Manny Parra goodbye. Reds have already made it clear that they're playing for this year.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I'd love to pile it on here and bring tony out for another inning.

Wow. That was intense. Tony had to strike out three.

Pedro Alvarez should be an umpire. He has no clue about the strike zone.

Cingrani could be the key infusion this pen needs to make it through until Marshall/Brox get healthy. Dude was nails that inning.

There's no way the ump had time to base his call on what Cingrani did after the catcher had the ball in his glove. It was just a bad call, period.

You may be right. He's been kinda slow on the calls all night. He's also been very erratic. I'm not saying he did it to screw Tony....but I am saying that no umps like that stuff. From hitters or pitchers. It may not effect that particular call....but it may down the road. It's not right IMO, but it IS part of the game unfortunately. And they especially don't like it from a rook. Just sayin.

Exactly correct. But it took very skilled pitching by Tony. Nothing down the middle.

    Great pitching, Cingrani.

Historically, when there are injuries, some guys step up to compensate (Ludwick, Cingrani), some guys not so much (Sam).
