Wonder what could cause a brain to develop like that. Severe abuse as a small child, maybe?

Good question and maybe the right answer?

Haven't we already found that out?

Perhaps you can make the argument that the opt-in nature of the Boston University CTE study skews the percentage but when the brains of 110 out of 111 former NFL players show CTE I think it's pretty clear how pervasive the problem is.

I think so, but I think we're just waiting on them being able to reliably detect it in the living. And it sounds like we are about there now. When current NFL players start getting brain scans and seeing they have CTE I'm honestly not sure what happens next.

Football ceases to exist as we know it. That's what will happen. As dubc said, welcome to flag football.
