    Minor League Updates: Wednesday 6/19/2013

Louisville is at Durham one more time.

Daniel Corcino will attempt to lower his 7.49 ERA.
Josh Fellhauer is leading off as Billy Hamilton is taking the night off.
Chris Heisey is back in the lineup as part of his rehab stint.
Corky Miller is in the dugout filing his nails. Just in case.

Heisey and Soto with wasted first-inning singles. Corcino with a 3-up, 3down first.
Corcino pitches a scoreless second as well. However, he walked the bases full and threw 39 pitches.
Bats juice the bases in the top of the third on three walks (Corky, Heisey and Perez). But fail to cash in.
Corcino with two more walks in the third. But no hits and no runs. Scoreless after three.
Corcino must be tired of wasting four pitches to walk a guy because he just hit the leadoff batter on the first pitch. LOL. I love it. Two singles later and the Bats trail 1-zip.

The first-place Pensacola Wahoos will be taking on the Biscuits of Montgomery.

Tim Crabbe will be pitching for the Wahooligans.
Oh, and about that first-place comment, the second-half is starting tonight and everyone's record is resetting to 0-0.
Yorman Rodriguez will likely make his AA debut tonight.

Pensacola and Montgomery scoreless through one.
Tucker Barnhart with a second-inning double that leads to nothing.

DSL Rojos bested the DSL Mets 1.

Israel Cuevas wormed his way through the Mets lineup with no problems at all.
7IP 2H 0R 0ER 2BB 5K. The bullpen sealed the deal with two shutout innings. In four starts for Cuevas he has compiled some very solid numbers. 25IP 13H 2R 2ER 6BB 19K. That works out to an 0.72 ERA.

Carlos Mateo with two singles, an RS and an RBI.
Deyvi Burgos with a single, a triple, an RS and three RBI.
Yoel Noel (Yay!) singled twice and had two RBI.

Carlos Encarnacion has worked seven games for the Rojos in Relief. In nine innings of work he has given up just five hits and struck out eight. If I stopped there his 0.00 ERA might be believable. However, he has also issued nine free passes. He has been charged with seven runs, none of them earned. Living a charmed a life. =)

    Rojos 6 Mets 0.

Now 4-1 after 5. This was the (early I know) fast start I was hoping he would have at AA.

Pensacola held for a final score of 4-2.

Yorman went 3-4 in his first taste of AA.

Great pitching from Crabbe tonight as he went 6 innings with 7 strikeouts and only 1er.

    Louisville falls 3-2.

Daniel Corcino with another in a long line of rough outings. 4.1 IP 4H 3R 3ER 5BB 3K. He allowed one home run and he hit a batter.
Lee Hyde and Kevin Whelan provided 3.2 innings of stellar relief. They allowed just one hit, walked none and struck out seven, to no avail.

A rehabbing Chris Heisey singled, doubled and drew a walk.
Neftali Soto singled, doubled and scored a run.

In the ninth, trailing by a run, Josh Fellhauer drew a walk. Billy Hamilton pinch ran and stole second and third, giving him 45 on the season. He was left stranded as Donald and Negron were punched out and Soto flew out to left.

    Durham 3 Louisville 2.

DSL Reds played host to the DSL Gigantes.

Starter Jose Veras was touched up for four runs in his five innings of work. Adolfo Telleria came on and kept the D-Reds close with three shutout frames. Luis Gonzalez was the hard-luck loser. Gonzalez allowed two unearned runs in the ninth to take the loss.

The offense was spread out as no D-Reds' hitter had more than one hit, scored more than one run or drove in more than one.

Jose Siri update: 0-2 with a walk and an HBP.

    Gigantes 6 Reds 4.

As previously noted, Yorman Rodriguez and Tim Crabbe with nice efforts.

    Tim Crabbe: 6IP 2H 1R 1ER 2BB 7K.
Loek Van Mil with a perfect ninth to register his sixth save.

Yorman Rodriguez made the best of his AA debut with a single, double, triple, two runs scored and one knocked in.
Luis Durango reached base three times in five at-bats with a pair of singles and a walk. He touched home twice.

Pensacola is still undefeated in the second half (1-0). They win by a 4-2 margin.

Yorman's Double was a ground rule double. Ump ruled that it hit the fence and bounced over. Biscuits play by play announcer said it was clearly a HR and ump missed it. So i will give him 1 AA HR !!!

In one game Yorman pretty much has outhit everyone on that team except for Smith and Tucker.

Hope Smith's leg is not too badly broken. He looked like a good bet for 4th OF.

According to the game recap on MiLB.com, all three of Yorman's hits were to the opposite field. Nice.

Re: Minor League Updates: Wednesday 6/19/2013

I saw the triple -- a bullet over the RF's head, almost to the wall on the fly. As impressive was how easily he reached third -- no play. The kid has very impressive tools.

Small thing, but it was also good to see him lay off a fastball that was just a bit high in his first AB. That's a pitch he has to learn to take consistently.

After his big spring training, I would not be surprised to see him do well at AA. (I think both he and Lutz could have been a level higher to start the season, but all's well that ends well).
