Looks like Simon is on. And I have to tip my cap to Jocketty on this pickup. How he made it on waivers all the way to the Reds is a mystery.
I would have preferred Hoover, more rested than Simon.

For those who criticize Dusty, the use of Simon here is a sign of role rigidity. Dusty "promoted" Simon awhile back and obviously now views him as a seventh inning guy.
So now Alfredo has gone from infrequently used to always used.
Now the bases are loaded, the game is in the balance, and Dusty will remove him.

I don't disagree.
It's possible that Hoover is in the dog house, that Dusty won't use him in a tie game unless he has no choice. Guy is 0-5.
Otherwise he was a logical choice. Of course, it's only the seventh. Dusty may be counting on Hoover for the 8th.
Just seemed to me, though, that Simon has worked quite a bit lately for a guy who previously got lots of rest.
