it was him or Hoover. A Hobson's choice. And whover he didn't bring in for the 7th would have to pitch the 8th. Don't see the big deal.

Hoover did pitch well, although it was a non-pressure situation so we can't be sure of anything.

My rule would be that guys like Marshall, Chapman, maybe even Broxton pitch their normal roles if they can. Even if a bit tired. High level relievers if healthy.

But when you're dealing with guys like Alfredo Simon, I'd rather have a rested Hoover. Simon isn't at the high level that warrants use when tired.

I do believe the Reds would have won today if Dusty had played it my way. But we'll never know and it is what it is.

Not a coin flip if you are trying to keep Simon rested and healthy.

Yes! Because that would mean he is in the starting rotation!

Yes, and no reason why Hoover can't go two innings, a former starter.

I hate situations like this because it seems so obvious to me, a guy typing on a computer, yet it goes the other way and fails.

Oh well, I'll focus on the NBA tonight. Game over.

And it wasn't like Simon got hammered. Two ground ball singles between ss and 3b. The walk was his biggest mistake.

All true, but Simon has proved to me he is a warrior and a veteran. Hoover is an erratic kid. In any event lets say Hoover had gotten them in the 7th. Wouldn't Simon have to pitch the 8th anyhow?

We're bad again. Go get Arizona.

True, but when they call to BP Corky relays who's looking better... and lord knows Peterson has a hand in this as well.

Gotta wonder if when it comes to those two who scares them the most and why.

Your attempts at giving perspective and context to the game of baseball on this board recently has been duly noted. Unfortunately, you'll have more results and more fun banging your head against a brick wall.

Good game everyone. Good series. Should be a fun race the rest of the year.

Nothing like adjectives and clichés to prove a case beyond a reasonable doubt. Because veterans are always warriors. And kids? They're erratic.

I'm still predicting the Reds win the division by double digits.
