    Devin

I think we are seeing the slow and sure transition to our new starting catcher...ryans injury has provided devin a chance to develop his hitting, and catching. The time is now.

This is might help clear things up. It is from Snopes.com:

Latos just gave Mesoraco major props on the game he called tonight and it seemed to me like he was saying Mes has grown up.

Mez was never "bad" at calling a game, that was just the RZ perception.
Just a dude who loves the reds, and some new sneakers.

There's at least one quote from Bryan Price in this thread that says pitch-calling was a weakness of his coming into this season, but that he is improving.

Mez has improved his mechanics according to the report from the dugout noted by Welsh on the radio last night, the Reds are pleased with this

I now expect a retort that nothing was ever wrong with them.

Has he improved because he is playing more or is he playing more because he improved?

Playing time, age, expierence, hard work, natural progression, all of the above.

Btw, Latos complimented Mesoraco in an interview with Pic last night on FSN. Said Mesoraco called a great game and he only had to shake him off 1 time all night.

He is improving but his OPS is still hovering around .700, lets not act like he is a world beater all of a sudden.

What's the OPS for the other Red's catchers? Based on their production, Mes actually is a world beater, probably more like a universe beater.

Mes is absolutely the Reds best option, but that isn't saying much.

Re: The Burying of Devin Mesoraco

I think the average for catchers is around .750. Catcher isn't a premier offensive position. Mesoraco can get by at .700.
