If you are Walt Jocketty and you receive a call from Arizona offering Paul Goldshmidt and his current contract for Joey Votto and his whale of a contract straight up what is your response?

    Dude can rake.

Totally agree, TC, but I just think the pitching staff, though depleted is not up to snuff. Once Choo and Phillips cooled off, even with Jay's hot streak, they have been hard pressed to score. Add to that the horrible bullpen performance and a 6 game deficit is not impossible soon. The team really needs needs a left fielder who can hit. And a relief pitcher who doesn't give up home runs. Good grief.

sucked they came back to tie to watch our "ace" give it up. now the pen is in need of a big fix.. and a bat in LF with pop that scares the other team.. hmm Bautista would be good and they have to fix the pen too.. no Marshall really hurts

I'm not writing off the team like you guys are, but this is what happens with the volatility of relievers. Hoover sucks this year, Broxton is less than he was last year and they provided valuable high leverage innings last year. Marshall will make a big difference when he returns though.

Left field is a serious problem.
