    LF poll

What to do with LF the remainder of the season.

Edit: I made it poll with 4 options but they didn't apparently take when I made the thread.

    Choices:
    1. Paul, Lutz, Robinson are good enough for the rest of the season and postseason.
    2. Heisey will return healthy and give this team a boost through now until the postseason.
    3. Ludwick will return healthy and he will be the answer.
    4. None of the above are the answer. Reds need to trade and acquire a legit LFer if they want to win this thing.

Xavier Paul against righties. Every time. Bat him 2nd. Play Robinson the other times.

    3. Ludwick is practically a LF acquisition

My worry is Ludwick struggling and not having time to trade for a player. When is the trade deadline compared to Ludwick's return? The Reds may need to decide to trade for a bat before Ludwick's return and essentially pushing him back in the depth chart. I'm hoping Ludwick returns to last year's form, at the very least better than Heisey/Lutz/Robinson but I'm worried.

The non-waiver deadline is July 31. Last I read, Ludwick isn't even coming back until August at the earliest.

And I'll take Paul with righties, and a combo of Heisey and Robinson. This depends on how Heisey performs when he comes back. If he comes back, and isn't traded instead.

Thanks. I think whatever happens, the Reds are OK in LF. It would be great to have an upgraded bat but that all depends on the market. I'm fine by staying caput with what we got. Robinson and Paul are surprising me.

Agree with starting Paul against righties and bat 2nd but I would play Heisey against lefties. DRob would get occasional start and defensive replacement/ph. As, for Ludwick, I am not expecting much of anything from him this year. He was hitting poorly in spring training and Dusty talked about how he was a slow starter. Well, he will have missed almost 5 months by the time he gets back so I just don't see much production coming from him.
