The Reds have a lot of talent, but don't seem too smart sometimes. I know Aroldis often can win without throwing anything but fastballs, but when the other guys can sit on his fastball, and not worry about the slider, he can get in trouble.

Where was Price in the 9th tonight?
Not untrue, but when you can't control your pitches, it doesn't matter what you throw. Tonight, he couldn't control anything.

He visited the mound once. Not much else you can do in that situation. Chapman just didn't get the job done.

Yep. He got visibly upset after that error. Had the 1st guy been out, I think he wouldn't have melted down.

Tough loss tonight. Get 'em tomorrow.
Agree that it's a tough call. If Leake said he felt wiped, then there was no other choice than to take him out.

Reds 6 for their last 67 with runners in scoring position.

Throw a lot of errors, crappy pen performance, and mental mistakes......and no level of starting pitching or Man of Steel Bruce can carry this team.

Did he? I thought it was Dusty who went to the mound in the 9th. If so, my bad.

The marlins, cubs, brewers and mutts say hi! Honestly, do you really think this smoke-and-mirrors record isn't a direct result of the AAA schedule they've played? You see exactly what happens vs good teams.

I don't trust Chapman to throw strikes. Ever. With a 16 run lead. Ever.

But to your question, assuming I would have taken Leake out, I start with Chapman but have someone warming up once the 1st guy gets on. It's like he either has it or doesn't and when he doesn't, it's up to the hitters to bail him out swinging at pitches out of the zone. I would personally like to see him traded because I don't think he can throw consistant strikes, not because of today.

Fair point. I definitely would've given Leake the option. I think he deserved it.

My point is.....no one is more invested in that game than Mike Leake....you know what Leake was going to give you.....Chapman, while often spectacular is up in the air.

People say bringing in Chapman is never a bad decision......sure was a hideous outcome.

I don't care that much that Dusty brought in Aroldis.....I care that the Reds can't score without hitting a HR and Latos/Cueto pitch the 9th under that circumstance.

Best part of game threads of a loss... Getting to see posters who never show up, except for when the Reds lose, lol. Oh how we missed ya
