Astros scratched Bud Norris from his start today. Pirates won't deal Gregory Polanco for him. Houston does like Glasnow, a 6-7 monster RHP.
Other teams in on Bud Norris at the moment. One executive says Astros motivated to move him. Still under control for 2+ seasons.

Passan is saying that other teams are in, and that the Astros are motivated to move Norris.
He hasn't confirmed (nor has anyone else) that Norris is going to Pittsburgh at this time.
I'm rooting for Young to the Reds. He'd fit right into the #2 hole and at 3b with Frazier moving to LF.

I agree. Bat on the ball type, with decent patience. I'd prefer Pence, but I'd be happy with Young.
I could live with either. Young would cost us a lot less. Pence would keep Frazier at 3B and improve the LF defense as well. That's not nothin'.

Can Young play anything other than 3B/1B?
He was a "fall down range" shortstop for nearly the first decade of his career, and played 2B as well.

I would seriously play him at SS and live with his fall down range, especially with Frazier and BP playing next to him.
The thing I love about Pence is that he can start everyday in LF and pretty guarantee you solid defense and above-average offensive production in the #2 spot for the stretch and playoffs. Ludwick is your RH OF backup/PH, Paul your LH OF backup/PH. I'm fine with the infield backups (Izturis could be improved, but that's not a pressing issue) and catching tandem at this point, and with Broxton/Marshall on the way, the bullpen as well.
If you bring in Pence, the only thing that would be missing is another guy who can man CF, as he and Ludwick likely bump Heisey and DRob. Still would be a pretty airtight playoff roster.

That's too bad. I think you really downgrade the defense by having Young at 3B and Frazier in LF.
How do we know he's not Mel Torme?
What downgrades it more, Young at SS and Frazier at 3rd or Young at 3rd and Frazier in LF?
Frazier has been a near-elite defender at 3B. Can Young play LF adequately?
