Short was ranked as the Sox's 18th top prospect by Baseball America's 2012 Prospect Handbook. Short has a .285 batting average over four minor league seasons. He batted .262 with 29 doubles, 13 home runs, 60 RBIs and 21 stolen bases in 130 games at Double-A Birmingham last season.
Short batted .274 with four home runs, 15 RBIs and 23 runs in 29 games for Mesa of the Arizona Fall League.

Pirates Acquire Robert Andino

The Pirates have acquired infielder Robert Andino from the Mariners in exchange for a player to be named later, tweets Shannon Drayer of ESPN Radio Seattle. Andino was not on Seattle's 40-man roster at the time of the deal.
When is the trade deadline? I just thought of a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey and we really wouldn't have to give up too much.

I have an idea for the deadline. Let's move it back to whenever the waiver deadline is and just not have a waiver deadline. With the new wild card the way it is, it is killing the trade deadline.

An unintended consequence of moving the deadline closer to the end of the season is more teams could actually pull closer and decide not to sell.
Also, the player getting traded has even less impact for the new team, so it becomes less worth it to trade a player.
Here's a thought, perhaps the competitive balance in baseball is coming on. Teams have hope. It's almost like the NFL, no trades happen.
