No idea what you mean. What does a team w/ fire look like then? And how do you substantiate the claim that they have no leaders? Hogwash.

Re: Someone needs to light a fire under this team!

Only teams that win big have leadership and fire. All other squads are rudderless units drifting in a sea of baseball complacency. Where are Votto's heroic obscenities? BP should learn to knock stuff in not up. Frazier should summon the ghosts of Toms River to walk from those waving stalks of corn. Choo should quit this listless sighing in the agonies of left handed ignominy. And Walt should trade Bruce for Stubbs. (Wait - you haven't heard? They are the same player! I thought both being from Texas was a bit suspicious).

Finally in MLB news the commish has surrendered to the demands of fans on RZ and declared the season over on June 30th. All following games shall be considered pointless exhibitions. Fire Marshalls have heavily fined both the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals for failing to extinguish the fires that seem to be occurring within their lineups.
"Too much leadership like that could burn up entire cities", the marshall opined. He suggested several Reds players as succesful extinguishers of leadership based fires. "Any of those Reds players could be had quite cheaply."

We're in a lower scoring era than even the recent past.

Reds are 3rd in the NL in runs scored per game. Offense, seemingly difficult to watch, grades out ok.

Reds are 4th in NL in giving up least runs per game. Pitching/defense grading out ok, to my own surprise, as I didn't expect this team to get the great pitching it got last year.

They're in a bit of a slump, is all. It happens. Fortunately, the Cards are also slumping at the same time.

Don't look now- the surging Pirates are tied for 1st place.

I don't think one can determine player intensity from watching on TV.

Mainly because, you see the players for a fraction of the season and rarely hear them.

Plus, being demonstrative in a way we could see isn't indicative of intensity.

Plus it's not football, intensity is not the same in games that limit contact and don't trade possession on ad-hoc events.

(unless that player is Joey Votto and is in the same zip code as a television microphone)
