I don't think you can consider him a whipping boy when all the criticism is based on his complete failure to do anything of use for the team. Whipping boy implies a scapegoat. Hannahan is not being blamed for the poor performance of others.

Hannahan has been playing tight the whole year.

I think it is to some degree. The criticism of him is because he's not been playing well. But the degree of frustration directed at him might be some residual frustration over Votto and the rest of the team not playing well, and people don't want to be too unhappy at the guys that have produced a lot in the past, so it's directed at the guys that havent.

Rangers' announcer just said that Votto made that last play an adventure.

Well, Jack Hannahan is hitting only .188 with a .500 OPS for the year, and for his career he is a .231 hitter, with a .662 OPS.

Good inning. Now add on. Mesoraco needs some redemption as well.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Reds sign 3B Scott Rolen; DFA 3B Jack Hannahan.

Reds 4, Rangers 3 after five innings.

Leake at 66 pitches, 42 strikes.

I am pulling for Mesoraco, but that guy is 'burying' himself.
