Beginning = Davis has 37 HR and might have done PEDs (according to wild speculation)

End = Davis has 37 HR and might have done PEDs (according to wild speculation)
Following on an earlier post from Brutus, Chris Davis currently has a .402 ISO. Since 1900, here are the names of the players who have had a full season of .400 ISO or better.

    Ruth, Bonds, McGwire and Sosa.

If I could figure out a way to get 1st half numbers I would've done that. But even without it, I think that list is pretty illustrative.

Here's another...from 1950 to 1993, here's a list of players who had full seasons of .350 ISO or better:

    1961 Mantle (.370)
    1956 Mantle (.353)
    1961 Maris (.351)

From 1994 to the present (including Chris Davis), there have been 22 seasons of .350 or better. Many of those seasons belong to individuals who have been speculated about, either wildly or non-wildly.

I'm not sure if questioning the performance in this day would constitute wild speculation, especially when we have a long history of seeing what the human body can achieve in the game of baseball. We have seen what PED usage can help someone achieve. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put the two together and say "Hey, maybe something is going on here".

Sad, right? And it isn't just about baseball. It is all sports.

Convenient would've been using 1939 to present (or .375 ISO), since that wouldn't have changed anything. Just picked 1950 randomly, actually. Same with .350.

I agree. It is about all sports, and it's very sad.

Otherwise known as "Fudging the data"

Pretty weak to make ones point too.

The game is the game, it starts in 1876 as far as MLB goes and the stats are from all the years, not just the ones you conjure up in your echo chamber

What I'm more interested in, and I may wind up doing the research myself, is how many guys have added 200 points to their ISO in a season over their career average, with at least 1,000 established at-bats. That is what I think might be the most telling.

I suspect that list would be comprised of counting on one hand.

Exactly, there is evidence that people do steroids and hit HRs there is evidence that people don't do steroids and hit HRs.

It's the evidence that all HRs equal steroids that is lacking and wrought with pitfalls
