Travieso's stuff changed dramatically for the better over the course of this outing. It was as if a light was flipped on and he realized what he needed to do. Three runs in the first, then facing a no out, second and third jam in the third, he gets three straight strikeouts as his velocity jumps from 89-91 to 94-95 and his breaking ball is also much better. He looked pretty good. Interested to see what his next start is like.

Also, for those who missed it elsewhere, Stephenson threw a simulated game Monday. Should be back within a week if all goes well.

Curious, but encouraging. For me, this is the first report that has indicated Travieso has another gear that resembles the kind of stuff he was reputed to have coming out of high school. Strange that it should appear mid-outing in a game in which he'd already been roughed up.

Really looking forward to Stephenson's return. I hope he can make a jump up the ladder later in the summer, fully healthy and throwing well.
